Recording King was founded in the 1930’s as a house brand for Montgomery Ward Department Stores. The acoustic guitars and banjos were extremely sought after as well as respected by musicians for their excellent craftsmanship, playability and sound as the Golden Age of string instruments abounded. The legacy created during this historical period of American craftsmanship is still alive today with the classic vintage hand assembled parts and unequalled workmanship of the Recording King team, now headquartered in California. Famous guitarist John Fahey, often named as one of the hundred greatest guitar players in history, played a 1939 Jumbo model during his life and career. Truly an instrument to hand down from generation to generation.
