The concert body shape has been favored by Breedlove fans since its’ first appearance in 1992. This design especially appealed to fingerstyle players who found it extremely comfortable and well balanced to play. The low end is rich and rewarding without being overpowering blending evenly with the highs and mids to give you not only a beautiful tone but also a bonding feel! The Breedlove Bridge Truss along with the graduated top provides you with clear concise sustain from single notes or full strum.
Redwood comes from the Northern California coastal mountains and is loved for its’ beautiful clear upper harmonic tones as well it’s rich reddish brown colors by fingerstylists and strummers of all levels. As with all of their woods Breedlove uses only the premium redwoods available.
BACK AND SIDE WOOD
Indian Rosewood back and sides have been used for guitar back and sides since the early days. It comes from India and southern Iran and has been the prime choice of guitar players from classical to dreadnaught styles. This amazing wood works in harmony with the player and tends to form a bond as it delivers rich bass clear treble and a beautiful balance of lows through highs. It is normally brown with black streaks that continues to become richer and bolder over time. There are different grades of Indian rosewood Breedlove chooses only the best.
Breedove chooses to use graduated tops on their USA models and this process results in an incredible balance of lows and highs. Expert craftsmen evaluate each top individually for stiffness and density then sanded to precisely the right graduated thickness making the treble side thicker and the bass thinner. This results in a beautiful balance across the top and is largely responsible for the distinctive Breedlove sound sought after by all levels of guitarists. It doesn’t get more hands on than this!
BREEDLOVE BRIDGE TRUSS
The Breedlove Bridge Truss (BBT) reduces tension on the soundboard of the guitar, so the top wood is able to vibrate more freely, producing remarkable sustain, balance, and clarity. The BBT also allows for a thinner graduated top, thereby allowing Breedlove craftsmen to bring out the optimal sound from the top wood without sacrificing structural stability. Relieving much of the string tension from the bridge prevents “bridge belly,” ensuring top stability for decades. Guitar strings can exert up to 230 pounds of pull from the nut to the bridge. Traditional methods for preventing top bowing at the bridge usually involve heavy internal bracing and thicker tops. The BBT compensates for this pressure in an innovative way: The BBT is mounted to the bridge from the inside and is connected into the tail block of the guitar, pulling downward on the underside of the bridge to distribute some of the tension, relieving pressure on the top. The resulting tonal effect on BBT-equipped guitars is more resonance and livelier sound with enhanced overtones.
Breedloves’ bolt on neck makes it much easier not to mention cheaper than the traditional dove tail neck joint to have a neck reset should it ever need one. The preferred neck angle is no problem to achieve using this type of neck and the single action truss rod. The incredibly slim neck profile makes these guitars easier and much more comfortable to play no matter if you have large or small hands. Fine sanding hand buffing and rubbing a semi-gloss finish takes three days.
